Gunzilla’s GUN token: $68M in hours? Seriously!

Forget meme coins, Gunzilla Games just dropped GUN, a token for their upcoming game “Off The Grid,” and it’s already making waves. Launched early Monday, the token for both the game and its Avalanche subnet, Gunz, quickly amassed a $68 million market cap within hours and while it experienced a slight dip, as of 11:30 am ET it was holding at $0.09.

Even with a minor pullback, GUN boasts a trading volume of a staggering $126 million in mere hours, according to CoinGecko. Currently, 604 million tokens are circulating out of a total supply of 10 billion.

The Gunz chain itself is showing serious activity. Director of Web3 at Gunzilla, Theodore Agranat, revealed that Avascan data indicates over 487 million transactions have been processed across 14.5 million wallets. Agranat, in a Blockworks interview, emphasized their methodical approach: “Unlike most Web3 projects, we’ve spent five years now building everything first and testing it in testnet for over a year.”

For gamers curious about “Off The Grid,” it’s free-to-play on PC and console, no crypto wallet required to jump in. While fundamentally a skill-based shooter, the game layers in depth with character cyberlimbs granting unique abilities and purchasable in-game items. For those wanting to dive deeper into the crypto integration, a Pro membership unlocks the game’s blockchain-powered marketplace. Even free players can gradually accrue GUN tokens through gameplay.

Agranat also highlighted user engagement within the game, noting that players decoded 385,000 hexes to unearth loot in a single day just last week, showcasing the game’s active player base even pre-token launch.
