Worldcoin raises $52.5 million but sees token price drop over 10%

The World Foundation raised $52.5 million by selling 217 million Worldcoin (WLD) tokens, but the token's price dropped over 10% following the announcement.

The World Foundation raised $52.5 million in a Worldcoin (WLD) token sale on July 25, 2026, selling 217 million tokens. Each token sold carries a 12-month lockup period. Pantera Capital led the funding round.

The Foundation plans to allocate the capital towards integrating World ID into enterprise platforms, consumer applications, and AI agents. The sale price of the WLD tokens was approximately $0.2415 per token, resulting in the Foundation receiving 47.5 million USDC as part of the transaction.

Following the funding announcement, the WLD token price dropped more than 10% within 24 hours. Over the past month, the token price has declined by 32.8%. Daily emissions of WLD tokens fell 43% on July 24, from approximately 5.1 million tokens to 2.9 million tokens.

Cosmo Jiang, General Partner at Pantera Capital, stated, “The need for Proof of Human is becoming acutely clear with the acceleration of AI development.” The Foundation previously raised approximately $65 million worth of WLD tokens in a separate transaction in March 2026, selling at around $0.27 per token.

In May 2025, notable investors Andreessen Horowitz and Bain Capital Crypto purchased $135 million of WLD tokens. The involvement of Bain Capital Crypto, along with Eightco Holdings, Selini Capital, and Susquehanna Crypto in the latest funding round indicates significant interest in the Proof of Human initiative.

Despite the recent sale and reduced emissions, the WLD token struggles against a backdrop of larger market gains, with Bitcoin gaining 5.4% and Ethereum increasing by 14.9% over the same period. The 12-month lockup may alleviate immediate selling pressure on the token.
